UAE Overstay Fine Calculator
How to settle a UAE overstay fine
- Check the exact amount. Dubai-issued visas: the GDRFA Dubai fine-inquiry service (passport number or file number). All other emirates: the ICP Smart Services portal.
- Pay online. ICP Smart Services, the GDRFA Dubai website/app, or the UAE Pass app all accept card payment. Airport payment on departure is possible but risks delays — settle at least 48 hours before flying.
- Overstayed more than 30 days? Obtain the exit permit (roughly AED 250–300) in addition to the daily fines before departure.
- Leaving or staying? If you want to stay, a visa extension or a new visa must be arranged and all fines cleared first — unpaid fines block new applications.
Methodology and sources
Rate verified 2026-07-15: the Federal Authority (ICP) unified the overstay fine at AED 50 per day across all emirates and visa types effective February 2026, removing the former tourist-visa grace period. The same AED 50/day rate appears in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announcement of June 2026. This calculator counts days from the first day after expiry — it is an estimate tool, and the binding figure is always the one shown by GDRFA/ICP systems.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the overstay fine in the UAE per day?
AED 50 per day for every visa type, starting from the first day after your visa expires. The UAE unified this rate across all emirates and visa categories in February 2026, and tourist visas no longer have any grace period.
Is there a grace period after a UAE tourist visa expires?
No. The previous 10-day grace period for tourist visas has been removed. The AED 50 daily fine starts accruing from day one after expiry, so plan your exit or extension before the visa runs out.
How do I pay a UAE overstay fine?
Pay online via the ICP Smart Services portal (visas issued outside Dubai), the GDRFA Dubai website or app (Dubai-issued visas), or the UAE Pass app. You can also pay at the airport on departure, but officials recommend settling at least 48 hours before flying to avoid delays.
What happens if I overstay more than 30 days in the UAE?
On top of the AED 50-per-day fine, an overstay beyond 30 days requires an exit permit costing roughly AED 250–300. Longer overstays can lead to entry bans, so settle as early as possible.
Can UAE overstay fines be waived?
Only under specific amnesty programmes announced by the authorities — none is active as of July 2026. Fines are otherwise mandatory and block new visa applications until settled.
